Pinterest Approved Recipe Link-Up

Hey guys! One thing I love about summer vacation is having extra time to cook and try new recipes! Ok, let’s not start this out with any misconceptions. My hubby is definitely the cook in the family and cooks dinner almost every night. I have the best hubby ever! I do love to bake though and that’s my specialty. But I am trying to learn to cook something more than chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese too. So this summer I plan to venture out of my comfort zone and try some fun recipes. And what better way to do that then with a Pinterest Link Up!

I am linking up with Courtney, Angelia, Tonya, and Nicole for a fun Pinterest approved recipe link-up!

Let’s start off with something I am actually good at, baking! I absolutely love baking and every time we go to a cookout I always try to bring something homemade. Well, this time my dear hubby gave me about a 3 hour notice that we had a cookout to go to. Then the panic started to set in. I could grab a box mix and just call it good. Or maybe just run to the store and grab some cookies and throw them on a platter, but no, I HAD to bake something. So I quickly browsed Pinterest and dug through my cabinets and this is what I came up with! Reese’s Gooey Cake Bars! Check them out before they go into the oven!

Ok, so when I took it out of the oven I did panic a little because it was still very gooey. The notes said it would be but I was still worried. But there was no time, I wrapped it in foil and headed off to the cookout hoping the would set while we were on our way.

And guess what?!?! They did!!! And wow were these amazing!!! I don’t think I have ever gotten this many compliments on a dessert before. It was just beyond amazing. The picture does not do it justice but you seriously have to try these brownies! This will definitely be a go to for get togethers this summer! And don’t mind the pic, my daughter insisted on helping me cut the brownies šŸ™‚

You can get the recipe here from Bru Crew Life. And her pictures make this look so much better than mine do šŸ™‚

Ok, next up is our dinner last night, Chinese Pot Stickers! Let me start off by saying that hubby did most of the work. But I totally made the dipping sauce all by myself. Proud moment here!
So this was an entire family event going on here. Hubby made the pork mixture, our daughter stuffed them into the wonton wrappers, hubby fried them on a skillet while I made the dipping sauce, then hubby made some homemade fried rice to go with it. Ok, so this was mostly a hubby made dinner but me and my daughter totally helped some.
After everything was made, and my kitchen was a disaster (which it is every time hubby cooks, lol)  it was time to eat. And let me tell you, this recipe was super simple to make and tasted amazing. We baked some in the oven and pan fried some. I do have to say that the pan fried tasted so much better! You should definitely give this a try one night. You can find the recipe here.

What recipes have you tried that I should add to my summer cooking list? I would love some new ideas as I “learn” to cook.
