Two blog posts in one day! I think I may finally be getting the hang of this! I had a few people ask to see some bulletin boards at my school so this was the just the motivation I needed to stop neglecting this little blog that I started!
This past school year our school hosted a book study on The Leader In Me. Unfortunately, because Mommy duties call, I was not able to attend the book study but after listening to the conversations of fellow coworkers I was immediately interested in learning more about this! I spent the summer focused on learning everything I could about Daily 5 so I did not have time to read this book and I was bummed. I really wanted to implement it this year but did not want to take on too many things at once.
Well, little did I know, our school decided to adopt The Leader in me AND The 7 Habits of Happy Kids school wide this year! I was thrilled when the vote came around and I immediately checked, underlined, and circled YES!!!! We will be focusing on one trait a month and really diving into it as a school community. I am so excited to learn more about this and will definitely post everything that I learn and things that we do in our class. Now it’s time for me to buy the books and try find time to read them in between Mommy Duties, Daddy Duties (hubby is away for a whole year! so I have to play double duty this year), and Teacher Duties. Who needs sleep, right?
So, back to the point of this post. Our school immediately began decorating with the 7 Habits so that we could emerge the students right away. The decorations turned out amazing. I am missing one picture of a gorgeous tree that our Art teacher painted in the cafeteria. The door was locked when I got to school today. But tomorrow at school I will grab a picture and add it to the post. These are still works in progress but they still look great. Enjoy a quick tour of our school!
This is in our front office. Each habit is in its own frame. I took a picture of each one so you could get a close up view.
After you walk through the lobby and turn down the hall to head to all of the classrooms, you see this display just below one of our windows.
As you are walking to the gym, you will see this amazing display. This one is by far my favorite! You should see the kids walk by it. They LOVE looking at their selves in each and every mirror. They are so cute!
Those are the displays that we have so far. I will add the tree in our cafeteria tomorrow so be sure to check back. If you want to know more about The Leader in Me or The 7 Habits of Happy Kids, click on the pictures below. There is so many resources and activities to go along with these.
