Hey there, I'm Julie!
Welcome to Big Ideas for Little Hands.
I’m so glad you’re here!
My goal is to empower enthusiastic Pre-K to 1st Grade teachers to feel successful by offering fun, low prep, and hands-on digital and printable resources to supplement their curriculum and help engage students in learning foundational skills.
If you are looking for hands-on, engaging kindergarten activities, you came to the right place! I’m here to save you time by sharing tried and true kindergarten resources, tips, and ideas, and hopefully give you some ideas for your own kindergarten lesson plans!
I absolutely love teaching and creating resources to use in my classroom. I love seeing students engaged and excited about their learning! Nothing makes me happier than to see a child light up when they just read their very first sentence, write their numbers correctly, or even stack a tower of blocks successfully without it toppling over.
My other passion is helping teachers just like me! Just like you, I wanted my class to succeed and do their best, but I also wanted them to have fun while learning. School does not have to be simply completing one paper task after another. Learning can be hands-on, engaging, and fun! I knew that I needed to find resources and ideas that went beyond the curriculum resources.
I have made it my mission to share these resources and ideas with teachers that were feeling the same struggle as me! I wanted these activities to be fun for the students but also low prep for the teachers. You already spend so much time lesson planning, teaching, and reflecting each day that I wanted to be able to give you some time back. This is time that you can spend with your family, reading a book, going for a walk, catching up on your favorite TV show, or even time just relaxing. Time is so precious and valuable.
My goal is to empower enthusiastic primary teachers to feel successful by offering fun, engaging, and hands-on resources to supplement their curriculum.
I know that you want the best for your students while having your students engaged and still having fun! I know this because I am still in your shoes. I am also in the classroom and teaching have been teaching Kindergarten since 2013. Before that, I taught Pre-K for 6 years and I have loved every minute!
So just in case you want to know a little more about me during your commercial breaks as you are relaxing on the couch, here’s a few fun facts!
- I am a wife to an amazing husband who was also my high school sweetheart. He is currently in the Army so we are living the fun and exciting Army life!
- I am also a mother to the most amazing daughter! She is my mini me and I couldn't imagine life without her.
- The Army life has given me the opportunity to teach in 6 different schools which has been a very fun and great learning experience!
- I think Macaroni and Cheese should be considered a vegetable
- You should have dessert at every meal
- I am the world's pickiest eater. No veggies or seafood for this girl
- I have no sense of interior design and my house could totally use some decorating. Any volunteers to come decorate my house?
- I am not even 5 feet tall. Another reason I love Kinders, they are still shorter than me!
- When I found out I was leaving Pre-K and moving to Kinder, I cried for almost a week. Now I could never imagine going back to Pre-K. I love my Kinders!
